screenwriting plots

Screenwriting plots have certain expectations and can be organized into the following genres which can be intermixed:  Romantic Comedy, Comedy, Thriller, Science Fiction, Horror, Western, Action/Adventure, Drama, Historical Drama and so on.  One genre that can also be included in Historical Drama or Drama are the popular and usually successful "biography movies."  Consider John Nash in A Beautiful Mind, Jack Aubrey in Master and Commander, Braddock in Cinderella Man, or Frank Hopkins in Hidalgo.

So if you are trying to figure out what your next script plot will be, consider a "biography."  If the person is still alive, you will need permission.

Or, if you don't want to create your own, original plot,  search for a book you enjoyed and turn that into a screenplay, but again, permission must first be granted for you to do so.
