Scripts to Read can be found at the many websites that offer
scripts you can download for free, or if you are looking for
writers and their scripts, visit Inktip.com, a large database for
industry professionals to browse through.
Collections
at the free download sites include screenplays from older, classic
movies, to the most current movie showing at the theaters.
Many of the samples are at the “revision” stage but you
can still get a view of the process of writing, revising, and
finalizing. Some
scripts, however, are labeled as “Final or Shooting Script”
which means these were the actual script used during the filming.
However, after reading many interviews from actors and
directors, there is some room for “spontaneity.”
That is, a new idea that seems right will be added into the
script. For example,
in David Cronenberg’s A History Of Violence, he said that
the shot of Maria Bello’s bruised back was not in the script but
was soon added because he got the idea after the stairway sex
scene, when she and Viggo
Mortensen got a bit banged up.
